68010 East Fairway Avenue Venture out to our sister Coastal Hotel Group hotel, The Resort at The Mountain and enjoy a round of golf in the secluded highlands of Mt. Hood. (It's less than an hour's drive from Hotel Fifty's front door.) There The Courses awaits. 27 holes of breathtaking mountain beauty and environmentally, eco-friendly golf. Challenging, but not too challenging! And for all guests of Hotel Fifty playing The Courses during their stay, the golf shop will "lend" you a free set of premium clubs -- either Nike or Taylor Made -- with which to play! Maybe they'll even help improve your game! So c'mon, this is a real value. You'll see; the entire experience will be well worth the excursion out of Portland. http://theresortcourses.com/ Columbia Edgewater Country Club 2220 NE Marine Dr This private course features a beautiful classical design; the main concern is accuracy rather than length. With tight out-of-bounds and harsh rough, you can't afford to miss these fairways if you're looking for a good score. You will enjoy playing this outstanding course, which is always in great shape. Eastmoreland Golf Course
2425 SE Bybee Blvd With narrow fairways, a tight tree line, and encroaching out-of-bounds stakes on several holes, this course demands that you use your most accurate club off the tees. Take advantage of a tame front nine, as the difficulty level will increase after the turn, with water coming into play for the first time. Hit a good drive on these par-5's and you will be looking at a very good scoring opportunity. Forest Hills Golf Course 36260 SW Tounge Ln Big hitters can have a field day here if they can control the tee ball. The course boasts four short par-5s and several short par-4s; you can expect a number of good birdie opportunities if you're able to find these narrow fairways. Small greens can be difficult to hit, so brush up on your short game for the best chance to save some pars and card a good score. Ghost Creek at Pumpkin Ridge 12930 Old Pumpkin Ridge Rd This championship course features an entirely man-made creek, Ghost Creek, that appears without warning and then goes back underground, only to reappear on a number of other holes throughout the layout. Successfully avoid the hazards in these fairways, and you'll turn your focus to greens that contain numerous mounds, slopes, and tiers and that will affect both approach shots and putts. Heron Lakes Golf Course - Great Blue 3500 N Victory Blvd A scenic links-style course, this venue offers water on just about every hole. Fairways are average in width, but there's trouble everywhere you look. Peppering the landing areas and surrounding these greens are deep bunkers that are difficult to play from. Aggressive play can be rewarded, but it can also cost you several shots if you happen to miss the shot. Heron Lakes Golf Course - The Greenback 3500 N Victory Blvd This traditional course features tree-lined fairways, well-placed bunkers, and water hazards throughout. Sporting an excellent variety of holes, the course insists that you hit every club in your bag. Shot-makers will have opportunities to 'go-for-it' if they choose, however the risk is often not worth the reward. With plenty of bail-out room, smart golfers can post a good score. Oregon Golf Club 25700 SW Petes Mountain Rd A wonderful example of the area's natural terrain, this hilly course contains very few level areas. With several thick cuts of rough lining these fairways, the emphasis here should be on keeping the ball in the short grass. Confidence is key on these large, sloping greens, as they are typically speedy and not always the easiest to read. Private course. Portland Golf Club 5900 SW Scholls Ferry Rd The number of trees on this private course will astound you; just about every hole is surrounded by a thick tree line. Hitting the narrow fairways is no easy task, but with larger-than-average greens, you may still have a chance to find the putting surface, even from the rough. With a number of hills throughout the layout, several elevated greens will require you to fly the ball all the way to the hole if you want to get it close. Quail Valley Golf Course 12565 NW Aerts Rd This course's elevated tees overlook a beautiful links-style design, featuring rough-lined fairways dotted with bunkers and elevated greens surrounded by bunkers. These putting surfaces are typically large; however, breaks are not severe and speed is not too quick, so if you're rolling the ball well, you can take a run at some long putts and not worry about the ball getting away from you. |
