H5O BISTRO & BAR ROLLS OUT CELEBRITY SUSHI SERIES
Portland restaurant features celebrity-endorsed sushi roll specials for charity
PORTLAND, Ore. – (June 2, 2010) – H5O bistro & bar, a premium casual restaurant located in the heart of Portland where downtown meets the river, is teaming up with local celebrities to create sushi roll specials that each benefit a charity of choice.
Three local celebrities, Leanne Marshall of Project Runway, Andy Carson from Good Day Oregon and Olympian Galen Rupp, have partnered with Executive Chef Nick Yanes to create unique sushi rolls. H5O bistro will feature one celebrity sushi roll each month, with 50 percent of the sale price going toward the celebrity’s chosen charity.
“We had a lot of fun working with these celebrities to give Portlanders an easy way to support some outstanding charities,” said Executive Chef Nick Yanes. “Each unique sushi roll shows off the celebrity’s personality. Customers will not be able to find these rolls anywhere else.”
From June 1 – June 30, H5O bistro will serve a sushi roll created by Leanne Marshall, clothing designer and winner of Project Runway season five. Proceeds from the “Leanne Marshall Roll” benefit Oceana, an ocean conservation organization that is a leading authority on ramifications of the Gulf oil spill. Leanne’s cabbage salad and spicy aioli sushi roll is filled with nori and seasoned rice; topped with fresh carrots, avocado and tomato; finished with togarashi and diakon radish sprouts and served with tomato coulis sauce.
Andy Carson, weatherman on KPTV’s Good Day Oregon, will have a roll featured at H5O bistro from July 1 – July 31. The “Andy Carson Roll” will benefit the American Cancer Society of Portland, an organization dedicated to eliminating cancer and diminishing suffering caused by cancer, and its event Relay For Life, July 17 – 18. Andy’s fennel and hickory smoked spring Chinook salmon roll includes herb whipped cream cheese and cucumber rolled with toasted hazelnuts and served with Slamerjo sauce.
University of Oregon alum Galen Rupp, a track and field and cross-country athlete, holds multiple NCAA records and competed in the 2008 Olympics. H5O bistro will feature Galen Rupp’s sushi roll from August 1 – August 31.
